AN ACT TO AMEND THE OFFENSIVE WEAPONS ACT, NO. 18 OF 1966

BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows:-
|

|
Short title.
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Offensive Weapons (Amendment) Act, No. 2 of 2011.
|
|
Replacement of section 10 of Act, No. 18 of 1966.
|
2. Section 10 of the Offensive Weapons Act, No. 18 of 1966 is hereby repealed and following section substituted therefor:-
|
"Offences under this Act to be non-bailable except on the order of the High Court of the Province.
|
10. No person charged with, or accused of, an offence under this Act, shall be released on bail except on the order of the High Court of the Province established under Article 154P of the Constitution, for such Province.".

Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.
|
3. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of this Act, the Sinhala text shall prevail.
