This Act may be cited as the Maintenance Claims (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act, No. 54 of 1998, and shall be deemed for all purposes to have come into operation on August 7, 1958 being the date on which Sri Lanka ratified the United Nations Convention on the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance, signed at New York on 20th June, 1956.2.
